Working on Self-Monitoring!

We are working on self-monitoring ... home & school behaviors as well as hygiene. When we get better at this,
we will work on self-monitoring our reading and some strategies to help us become successful at that!
Please work with your child at home on self-monitoring as well! Be sure not to jump in too quickly to fix things for your child! By the end of 3rd grade we will have guided responsible children, students & citizens! :)

Presenting Personal Narratives!

Stretching Sentences!

You may have noticed, looking at your child's homework last night, that it is difficult for kids to STRETCH their sentences to over 8 words ... which we require in 3rd grade! This anchor chart may help you - help them - create more interesting sentences, which in turn leads to more interesting stories! Thanks for working with them!!!

What is PLOT?

When kids understand the story structure of Fiction ... they COMPREHEND what they are reading! Ask your kiddos these questions ... What is the setting? Who are the characters? What are the events that lead to the problem/climax/rising action? What is the climax? What are some things that lead to the solution/falling action? What was the solution?????  Make them THINK!!! :)

I LOVE mornings like this! The kids do such a great job working with partners!!!!
